Love For You - Chapter 39
Chapter 39: Are You F***ing Serious?
Miao Jing was not joking.
The fruit knife was an old item, one that Chen Yi had given to Miao Jing over a decade ago for her to hide under her pillow for self-defense. It had a long silver handle, was heavy for its size, and was small and sharp; if you weren't careful, you could easily slice a small cut into your finger. Naturally, it was also exceptionally effective against Chen Yi’s cheek. No matter how thick his skin was, with a slight bit of force from Miao Jing’s hand, beads of blood slowly seeped out from the broken skin.
This bit of pain was nothing to Chen Yi. Even though his arm was wrapped in a bandage, his fingers could still nimbly control her wrist. But looking at her serious, earnest face, a lazy sense of wickedness stirred within him, and he couldn't help but laugh—did this brat have any idea who he was, what he had held in his hands, or what kind of life he had lived?
Damn her, she really had guts, pointing a knife at him from a hospital bed.
"Chen Yi!!"
Seeing him laugh so unscrupulously, her elegant brows arched high. As she applied a slight pressure to her wrist, Chen Yi felt a cold, stinging pain on his cheek. A bead of blood rolled into a line, sliding down his cheek instantly. The arrogant smiling face reflected deep in her pupils gradually receded, finally settling into a cynical smile at the corners of his lips. His dark eyes were bright, and his tone remained relaxed and unbridled.
"Want to get rid of me?"
She kept her pretty face stern and tilted her chin slightly, embodying the spirit of a cool, icy-cold tough girl: "Tell me!"
He tilted his cheek, avoiding the knife right under his eyelids: "Tell you what?"
"Everything." The silver blade pressed against him relentlessly, and Miao Jing’s tone was cold as well: "Why did the pool hall catch fire? Why has Officer Zhou been constantly coming to find you? He’s a criminal investigator; is this a criminal case?"
"How would I know? Go ask him. Tengcheng has been peaceful lately; I suppose these police officers have nothing better to do." He answered her in a lazy, amused tone: "Can you fing put the knife away? What kind of madness are you having? Don't you see I'm bleeding?"
She blinked her dense, curly lashes, her cherry lips pressed into a pale line. The blood-stained blade lifted slightly before steadily sliding downward. The tip of the knife moved with extreme precision, following the line of his cheek past his chin. The coldness and the chilling sternness of her expression forced Chen Yi to raise his chin, and with a highly threatening movement, she poked the knife at his Adam's apple.
It was intensely threatening.
His prominent Adam's apple bobbed beneath the thin skin, rolling against the sharp tip, staining it with a bit of crimson blood. Paired with the equally sharp and cool silver blade, the scene was both cold and sexy. Adrenaline surged instantly; even Chen Yi couldn't help but curse, "What the hell."
"Why do you always want to drive me away?"
"Why did you stop contacting me once I started university?"
"Where have you been these past six years? What have you been doing? Why did you open a pool hall in the end?"
Miao Jing’s face was cold and solemn. Her wrist, holding the knife, was extremely calm and steady—steady enough that one wouldn't doubt she could slice his throat in the next instant.
"What’s the point of asking? It’s not like I haven't told you before." Chen Yi’s brows were lazy. Unconcerned, he stretched out on the bed. Unable to resist, he shifted his gaze to look for his cigarette case. With the tip of the knife poking him and looking into her eyes, he couldn't help but want to smoke: "Bring me my cigarette case."
"Answer my question first." Her tone was ripple-free, as cold as ice: "Chen Yi, look at me when you talk."
He completely ignored the dagger, gave an impatient click of his tongue, and ran his tongue across his lips. Putting on a serious appearance, he half-closed his eyes and slanted a look at her: "Miao Jing, I'm your elder. You dare treat me like this? Who gave you the guts?"
She lowered her brows over her bright eyes, giving him a cold, sharp look. Her gaze was wintry yet soul-stirring. Before Chen Yi could recover from the shimmering waves in her eyes, he suddenly felt a sting on his neck—cold yet burning hot. Blood seemed to be quietly emerging. The wound wasn't deep, but it seeped wetly into the collar of his hospital gown. Realizing she had cruelly cut him again, he knitted his brows and drew in a sharp breath, his expression instantly displeased: "Are you fing serious?!"
"What's 'serious' and what's not?" Her round eyes glared straight at him, her arched brows stood on end, and her expression harbored a long-standing resentment and reluctance. The blood-stained knife tip continued downward along his throat like an ice pick attached to bone. She stared at him coldly, her slender, fair hand weighing the knife. The blade gently picked at the first button of his hospital gown. The mesmerizing blade stopped at his chest, and her rose-colored lips seemed to curl upward. Her clear pupils held frost: "Guess whether I dare to do it? Since you and Officer Zhou are so familiar, maybe you should just call the police and say I... committed armed homicide..."
The broad, flat chest exposed a patch of honey-colored skin before her eyes. The man’s skin was warm and supple, and the sensation was delicate—a perfect backdrop for the silver weapon. Chen Yi’s dark eyes gazed at Miao Jing, seeing the cold, cruel magnificence and enchanting brilliance hidden within her delicate, slender, and flawless appearance—he wasn't afraid in the slightest. He only felt that Miao Jing at this moment possessed a chilling, stunning sexiness, like a rose of the glaciers, covered in thorns and poison.
"Call the police?" He lay there comfortably. If his arm wasn't inconveniently wrapped in a bandage, he would have even liked to rest his arms behind his head. His thick brows arched high, and he looked at her with ease: "I’ve raised you for so many years; why would you want to kill me? I don't remember owing you anything. You little white-eyed wolf, you’ve studied for a few years—what kind of garbage have you learned? Besides, how do you plan to kill me? Tie up my hands and feet, let me lie on the bed, and stab me to death one knife at a time?"
Those words reminded her. Miao Jing’s elegant brows relaxed, and her fingers gently stroked his entire arm, smiling slightly: "Of course not."
She sat on the edge of the hospital bed and kicked off her shoes. She was wearing a long dress, and beneath the hem were her soft, smooth legs. Looking up at him, her eyes held a bashful yet meaningful look. She leaned her body close to his chest, and a faint fragrance suddenly washed over him. Chen Yi thought she was going to lie down next to him and even consciously scooted to the side, but who would have thought Miao Jing would twist her slender waist, lift her skirt, and in the blink of an eye, be kneeling on his lap.
It didn't look like a crime scene; it looked like a scene of intimacy.
Chen Yi: ...
Miao Jing playfully held that small, blood-stained fruit knife, continuing to poke it against his chest. Her thick lashes hung low, and the sharp knife tip coldly slid down his chest—it was a bit cold, a bit sharply painful, and carried a different kind of stimulation. Her expression was also cold and gorgeous. She focused on picking open the next button of his hospital gown. The loose blue-and-white striped garment was pulled apart, revealing most of his chest—the smooth, defined pectoral muscles, scattered shallow scars, and firm muscle groups.
...
Adrenaline continued to soar.
Chen Yi’s eyes were dark and full of interest, even holding a hint of excitement. She understood and gave him a clear, chilling look before speaking in a measured, calm tone.
"Officer Zhou is looking for you—is it because you committed some crime? Are you a suspect in some case, and he’s trying to bring you to justice?"
He blurted out: "Of course not."
"Then you two are colluding. You committed a crime, and he’s protecting you?"
The dog of a man was firm and decisive, his expression displeased: "No!"
The answer was satisfactory. Miao Jing swung the fruit knife downward. Her control slipped slightly, and she poked through a bit of skin. The needle-like pain was strangely satisfying.
The knife tip continued to pick open the next button.
"In these few years, have you done any bad deeds that haven't been discovered? Theft, robbery, vice, gambling, drugs, murder, arson, smuggling, or fraud?"
Chen Yi’s gaze rolled slightly, but his tone was mocking: "Didn't you tell me not to?"
"I told you not to, so you really didn't do them?"
"I didn't!"
A faint smile hid in the corner of Miao Jing’s lips as she consecutively picked open a button. She looked up and caught Chen Yi’s gaze; it was startlingly bright—eerie and bright.
"Did you mess around and fool about with other women?"
"No."
"Really no?"
He swore: "No. You fing cursed me to get sick every day. When you left, you were teary-eyed and told me to date properly and live a good life. Why would I fool around? In your heart, am I someone who only knows how to mess around?"
"After I left, how many girlfriends did you have?"
Chen Yi knitted his brows, seemingly unsatisfied with the question. The tip of the fruit knife applied sudden force, and there was another stinging pain; he sucked in another breath.
"Two!"
"Which two? Tu Li, and who else?"
"Met one through sports betting."
"You’re lying." Miao Jing’s gaze was cold, and she began to twist the knife tip again: "When I had just started university, I called you, and you said you had another woman by your side! You told me to stop looking for you!"
"No." His face darkened, and his brows drooped: "I... I didn't have anyone back then. I was busy as hell every day... I had no mood to look for women."
"Why did you lie to me?"
"Why were you thinking about finding me instead of studying and going to class? Do you know how busy I was every day? And I still had to deal with you." He pouted: "Annoying enough."
Miao Jing watched him silently for a moment and picked open the last button of his clothes. The shirt was pulled apart, exposing his athletic pectoral muscles and flat abdomen to her. Chen Yi looked down, peeking with quite a bit of pride. Compared to the rash young man from six years ago, he was more robust and sturdy, and his assets were more substantial.
The knife tip wandered down along his flat abdomen and stopped at the waistband of his striped trousers. After hesitating for two seconds, she gently picked at the white drawstring, but hesitated and made no further move.
Chen Yi’s eyes were pitch black. The scattered minor wounds on his body felt numb and senseless; a more stimulating sensation was spreading.
Miao Jing asked him calmly: "Have you missed me?"
"Yes..."
"How much did you miss me?"
His breathing was a bit rapid, and the corners of his eyes were tinged with a faint red: "Very much..."
"How much is 'very much'? How long have you missed me?"
The man’s voice was hoarse and deep, lingering like a lit cigarette. Whether it was an intentional provocation driven by physiology or the deepest thoughts buried in his heart, he said: "Missed you for a long time. Day after day, year after year.”
