My Queen, My Rules - Chapter 82

Chapter 82

To be honest, Ji Mingshu was truly not particularly keen on having children. This year, both sets of parents had hinted and suggested it many times, but she always acted like a spoiled child to evade the topic.

But to say she was entirely repulsed by it wouldn't be accurate either. Occasionally, she would even follow the parents' lead and fantasize about a blissful future life with children.

The reason for her hesitation was likely because, subconsciously, she felt that a child wasn't something you could just have on a whim. She didn't have a very concrete concept of the arrival of a new life, so she had no way to ponder it deeply.

Before she could answer, Cen Sen ground his body slowly and asked again, his voice hoarse, "Shall we have a baby?"

Ji Mingshu had no strength to speak; her voice was a soft, muffled whimper, and her refusal lacked any real conviction.

Sensing that Cen Sen was already at the edge, she reached out instinctively to grab the small box on the table.

But in the next second, she suddenly froze.

Huh? It was gone?

She tilted the box again, but nothing fell out.

She managed to pull open the drawer, only to find it completely empty as well.

Ji Mingshu’s reactions were already sluggish from Cen Sen’s ministrations, and now, it took her a long while to snap out of her stupor.

That giant box she had mistakenly bought at the supermarket—it was already used up? A box that big should have lasted at least half a month even if it were sitting on a convenience store shelf, right?!

"Wait... wait a minute..."

Unwilling to give up, she propped herself up and tried to reach deeper into the drawer.

However, Cen Sen was already like an arrow on a drawn bow, ready to fly. Sweat dripped from his temples, his eyes deep and intense, and with a gentle press, he pinned her slim, supple waist back down.

Click—!

The record-keeping of "The Canary Hatching Eggs" officially began.

Waking up the next day, Ji Mingshu stared blankly at the ceiling for nearly five minutes, her gaze drifting and unfocused.

Late last night, after the wind died down and the rain stopped, she had been as exhausted as a dead sparrow. By rights, she should have been completely unconscious the moment her head hit the pillow, but she hadn't slept for many hours in total, and in those few hours, she hadn't stopped dreaming.

In her dream, she had given birth to a baby. She didn't know if it was a boy or a girl, and its appearance was blurry, though she could infer from others' praise that it was somewhat cute.

But this cute baby was extremely infuriating, possessing every bad trait a brat could have, capable of driving someone to the brink of a faint in just two and a half minutes out of every three.

Just as she was at home, worn out and without makeup, taking care of the baby, she suddenly heard devastating news—Cen Sen was cheating!

The feeling of a bolt from the blue in the dream was hard to describe; it was far more profound than when she had mistakenly thought Cen Sen was cheating with some eighteen-tier actress surnamed Zhang.

And this dream was remarkably complete. After emotionally digesting the news, the dream immediately arranged for a grand showdown where Cen Sen came home to lay his cards on the table.

Cen Sen, dressed in an impeccable, expensive suit, stood in the living room and directly laid out his conditions.

Ji Mingshu couldn't remember the other conditions, only that Cen Sen said the child would belong to him, with no room for negotiation. He used that indifferent tone she used to be familiar with but now found alien, his eyes frank and cold.

In the dream, no matter what, she couldn't accept reality; it was as if the sky had collapsed, plunging her straight into the apocalypse.

So much so that after waking up, she still felt the heartbreak, despair, and unbelievable sense of lingering resentment from the dream.

"What’s wrong?"

Cen Sen had just woken up. Seeing her dazed, he instinctively pulled her back into his arms, his voice deep and raspy.

It was clearly a simple three-word inquiry, yet it carried an undisguised intimacy, a stark contrast to the indifferent and ruthless Cen Sen from her dream.

Ji Mingshu found a comfortable position to curl up in his arms, her cold hands and feet beginning to warm up. She muttered gloomily, "Nothing, I just had a nightmare."

Cen Sen didn't press for details and kissed her hair. "It’s still early, go back to sleep for a while."

Ji Mingshu let out an "mm," the arm she had wrapped around him tightening involuntarily.

But not long after, she couldn't help but poke Cen Sen’s chest and whisper, "I dreamt that after I had a child, you cheated on me."

Cen Sen paused slightly, instinctively thinking this was an immature excuse she had invented because she didn't want to have children. He remained silent for two seconds, then followed her lead and said, "Then let’s not have one."

"That’s not what I meant, I really did dream it!" Ji Mingshu poked him even harder. "I dreamt that after you cheated, you came back to settle things. You wouldn't even sit down; you just stood in the living room and talked to me about asset distribution and how the child must go to you..."

Ji Mingshu rambled on and on, and by the end, she suspiciously speculated, "Do you think I might have the ability to foresee the future? A lot of novels write about that kind of thing."

Cen Sen pondered for a moment and countered, "Don't novels also write about people digging out hearts and kidneys?"

"..."

"Alright, stop talking."

This topic was voluntarily skipped by Ji Mingshu because Cen Sen brought up her dark history. She chatted about other things off and on, her fingers aimlessly drawing circles on his chest.

Suddenly, she remembered something. "By the way, when will the design results for Junyi Yaji come out?"

"It should be this afternoon. If my schedule ends early, I’ll go to listen to the project team’s bid comparison."

Ji Mingshu gave a meaningful "Oh."

Cen Sen didn't take the bait; he just looked at her with equal significance, wearing an expression that said, "If you bribe me, I might consider rigging the results."

Ji Mingshu struggled a little, but ultimately decided to hold firmly onto her integrity, pushing Cen Sen and urging him to get up.

Cen Sen chuckled but didn't pester her.

After arriving at the company, Cen Sen was business as usual, processing a mountain of documents while sipping black coffee.

However, halfway through his work, he suddenly took off his glasses, picked up his lens cloth, wiped them in a measured manner, and called for Zhou Jiaheng. "Have Attorney Wen come over."

Zhou Jiaheng hesitated slightly. "Understood."

Attorney Wen was Cen Sen’s personal lawyer who only dealt with his private assets and rarely appeared even a few times a year. Calling him in suddenly was truly quite inexplicable.

Half an hour later, Attorney Wen arrived on the 68th floor of the Junyi headquarters.

Cen Sen got straight to the point. "Attorney Wen, I want to cancel the prenuptial agreement I drafted with my wife."

Attorney Wen didn't quite understand his meaning and hesitated, "Are you looking to change some of the terms?"

"No, I want to legally share all my pre-marital and post-marital assets with my wife."

"...?"

Attorney Wen’s face clearly read, "Have you been bewitched?"

Cen Sen’s expression remained normal. With his elbows resting slightly on the desk and his fingers loosely interlaced, he added, "Additionally, I hope to redraft a contract regarding how assets should be compensated and distributed in the event of extramarital affairs by either party after marriage. For example, if I were to have an affair, I would leave with nothing—clauses similar to that."

"..."

The bewitchment was clearly deep.

Attorney Wen broke into a cold sweat, confirmed the details politely, and after receiving a definitive answer, understood and recorded Cen Sen’s requirements, informing him one by one of the potential consequences these demands might bring.

Cen Sen confirmed without a moment’s hesitation.

Although Attorney Wen couldn't fathom Cen Sen’s intentions, he knew he was in no position to offer opinions, so he acted according to instructions and returned to prepare the contract.

After the man left, Cen Sen sat alone in his office, leaning back in his chair while recalling the dream Ji Mingshu had spoken of that morning.

In truth, he often knew he wasn't doing enough, which was why Ji Mingshu still worried about him cheating during their marriage to this day. But he didn't know what he could do to give her enough sense of security.

After much thought, it seemed that the only thing he could do was provide more material guarantees.

Zhou Jiaheng entered at the right moment to deliver documents and reminded him that he had a business lunch that day; it was time to leave.

He said "Mm" and asked, "What time is the bid presentation for Junyi Yaji?"

Zhou Jiaheng: "Two o'clock in the afternoon."

Cen Sen nodded slightly, noncommittal.

Ji Mingshu’s design manuscript had been packaged and sent directly to the email address of the Junyi Yaji project manager.

The manager hadn't been able to make up his mind initially, not knowing how to treat the President’s wife’s submission. If he probed the higher-ups, no one would give him a straight answer; even Zhou Jiaheng spoke in riddles, and he couldn't figure out the true intent at all.

He had been stressing over this for two days. As the bid presentation neared, he couldn't resist peeking at the design early—and was immediately relieved.

"...I think the design with the theme of 'Planet B612' (No. 052) is also very good. The well-known fairy tale of the Little Prince and the Rose first acts as a great background foundation, and the design concept provided by the designer fits very well with the specific plan and background she provided. It has a very lively and natural sense of harmony."

"Furthermore, from an operational perspective, a significant portion of our Yaji customers are young women. Including the promotional plan for the internet-famous hotel released previously, the target audience is very clear. Therefore, this manuscript hits the mark for this segment of our customer base."

At the bid presentation meeting, the manager was selecting the design manuscripts he was most satisfied with.

Cen Sen walked in halfway through, signaled for everyone to continue, and only sat to the side to listen. He had no intention of voicing his opinion from beginning to end.

However, the observant manager noticed that when design No. 052 displayed its 3D Max renderings, Cen Sen glanced at them, his gaze fixed, and he even revealed a faint, nearly imperceptible smile.

The first Junyi Yaji was initially expected to feature 68 suites, following a personalized, high-end route.

Except for the 23 renowned designers who had been directly selected beforehand, the designs for the remaining 45 guest rooms were all sourced from this competition for young designers.

There were minor disputes during the presentation, but in the end, they reached a consensus.

Ji Mingshu was fixated on the results of the competition. Fearing she would disturb Cen Sen’s work, she could only stare eagerly at her phone, thinking that if she passed, the project team would definitely reply via email.

But she sat waiting, and waiting, yet no email arrived. She couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy, to the point where even shopping felt spiritless.

Jiang Chun didn't quite understand her design integrity; she only thought she was being overly dramatic and advised her with strong conviction, "It’s just one guest room. He already bought you an entire island; if you insist on designing it, do you really think he wouldn't let you?"

"What are you being so pretentious for? If it’s ugly, it’s ugly. At worst, that suite won't be opened to the public. It can just be a private suite for you, the President’s wife, and you can just let it burn your own eyes—wouldn't that be the best of both worlds?"

"..."

"Do you even know how to speak?"

Jiang Chun looked at her, entirely innocent.

Ji Mingshu looked her up and down, then her gaze stopped at the half-eaten pork floss snack in her hand. "Even eating isn't enough to plug your mouth!”
