Love Has Fireworks - Chapter 70

Chapter 70: The Woman Who Cheated

By the time the next weekend rolled around, Li Yifei was so busy he didn't even have time to rest. This time, Qian Fei was genuinely a bit curious about what exactly he was busy with. She couldn't resist sending a WeChat message: "You being so passionate about work wouldn't happen to be because you hired a glamorous little 36D secretary or something, would it?"

Li Yifei messaged her back with a photo. In the image, a room full of males was sorting through materials in a massive conference room.

Qian Fei clicked her tongue in amazement at the sight. Liao Shiyu, who was nearby, asked what she was looking at to evoke such a rich and colorful sigh.

Qian Fei handed the phone to her to see, saying, "I just didn't expect the company Li Yifei started on his own to be quite so large-scale. Look at this—just this conference room alone has so much style, it's practically like a screening hall!" She paused, then suddenly shifted her tone, "You don't think his entire company consists of just one luxurious conference room, do you?" As she spoke, she couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Though that style certainly fits his flashy, vain, alternative-loving, and show-off personality!"

Liao Shiyu took the phone, glanced at the photo, and curled the corners of her lips.

This was clearly the Number One Conference Room at the Qiansheng Group headquarters. It could accommodate several hundred people simultaneously. Large meetings for personnel at or above the mid-management level were generally held here, so of course it was luxurious, high-end, and grand.

She couldn't help but find it amusing. Toward someone like Qian Fei, whose single-mindedness bordered on idiocy, she surprisingly didn't feel the slightest bit of aversion no matter what she said.

Before handing the phone back, her eyes caught something else in the photo. With this glance, she couldn't help but freeze.

In a corner of the photograph, a person's head was lowered, appearing faint and indistinct. She pinched the screen to enlarge the photo.

Even though it was blurry, she could be absolutely certain whose head that was.

Beside her, Qian Fei leaned over and asked, "What are you looking at?"

She exited the image as if nothing had happened, handed the phone back, and said, "Nothing. Just checking to see if there's anyone I know among the people working overtime with your boyfriend."

Qian Fei took the phone. "Is there anyone you know? Oh, right, you definitely know Da Jun, but he doesn't seem to be working overtime. It seems he only handles investments and doesn't manage operations. Speaking of which, I've heard Li Yifei mention this company; it was originally started together with Da Jun. The first sum of capital was entirely provided by Da Jun. Later, when it turned a profit, Li Yifei paid back his portion of the capital investment to Da Jun."

Liao Shiyu arched her brow. "You know Jun Cheng? Back then, he tricked me out of my New Year's pocket money to play online games. I told his mother about it, and his mother beat him so badly he nearly developed hemorrhoids; he had to sleep on his stomach for a month. From then on, he officially severed ties with me."

The content of her words sounded tragic and final, yet her tone held no regret or nostalgia whatsoever, making Qian Fei feel that Jun Cheng's life was truly matchless in its misery.

Liao Shiyu suddenly said, "Speaking of which, it's been a long time since I visited the jade shop run by Jun Cheng's mother. Do you want to go stroll around there together in a bit?"

Qian Fei thought that since Li Yifei was working overtime, staying by herself would be boring anyway, so she said "Alright." But before returning to her room to change her clothes, she suddenly paused and asked Liao Shiyu, "How much money do I need to carry on me so that the moment I step through the door of Jun Cheng's mother's shop, I won't feel faint of heart?"

Liao Shiyu smiled faintly, a trace of wicked playfulness in her expression. "As long as you have definitive evidence of Jun Cheng playing online games, his mother won't charge you a single cent. No matter if what you take a fancy to is the most expensive item in her shop, she will give it to you for free as a reward for helping her discipline her son and guide him back to the right path."

Qian Fei listened, completely dumbfounded.

She felt that Jun Cheng's mother was truly a wonderful and fascinating person.

Qian Fei excitedly asked Li Yifei if he had any photos of Da Jun playing online games.

Li Yifei asked her what she wanted them for. Qian Fei replied that Liao Shiyu was going to take her to stroll around the shop run by Da Jun's mother.

Without another word and showing no stinginess whatsoever amidst his hectic schedule, Li Yifei immediately sent over several photos of Da Jun squatting on a chair while scratching his foot and playing games. He attached a sentence: "This is all for now. If you take a fancy to a lot of things but Auntie Jun doesn't give them all to you for free, remember to ask me for more. I still have many photos on the computer in my upstairs office. I guarantee I can make my Auntie Jun willingly give away items until she goes bankrupt!"

Qian Fei delightfully sent a red lips emoji over.

In the end, relying on these photos, Qian Fei up(ruth)held(lessly) jus(violated)tice(conscience) and reaped a pair of emerald-green jade pendants.

When Qian Fei stepped out of the shop, Jun Cheng's glamorous and charming mother was currently roaring like a fierce lion into the phone to classmate Jun Cheng, berating him, "You little bastard, roll your ass over to the shop right this absolute second, or else I'm sending you to your dad's place to let him whip you to death!"

Qian Fei was startled by what she heard and couldn't help but ask, "Little bastard? Is Auntie Jun a Northeasterner?" [The author is a Northeasterner, just having a bit of fun here ^_^] Liao Shiyu said, "Yeah, usually she's as gentle as someone from a painting, and only reveals her true colors when driven hysterical by the stimulus of Da Jun playing online games."

Qian Fei laughed so hard she trembled. "What does Da Jun's dad do? He sounds like he has even more deterrent power than his mom!"

Liao Shiyu said, "A real estate speculator with a military background. He speaks very little and generally uses a leather whip to reason with his son."

Qian Fei felt that Da Jun's family was truly too out of the ordinary; every single one of them was a unique and wonderful character.

The jade pendants were a matching set of two, a sisterly style, and Qian Fei generously gifted one to Liao Shiyu.

After Liao Shiyu put it around her neck, she said to Qian Fei, "Let's take a photo together!" She waved her phone.

Qian Fei then put on her pendant as well, and took a selfie with Liao Shiyu, their heads pressed close together.

Then Liao Shiyu looked at the photo and asked Qian Fei, "Can I post this photo to my Moments to show it off?"

Qian Fei nodded, "Sure!"

Liao Shiyu asked, "What do you think I should write to accompany the caption?"

Qian Fei grinned wickedly, her shoulders shaking, "Just write: Coincidentally obtained a pair of sister-style jade pendants with a friend. Special thanks to Jun Cheng here—please never give up on playing games!"

Liao Shiyu couldn't help but curl the corners of her mouth into a smile as well.

After she posted the image and text to her Moments, she suddenly asked Qian Fei, "I just thought of something. Tell me, after a breakup, should one add their ex-boyfriend on WeChat?"

Qian Fei said, "Better not, right? There's no need. In any case, I didn't add mine."

Liao Shiyu fell silent for a moment, then said, "Oh right, Qian Fei, we haven't added each other on WeChat yet!"

Qian Fei slapped her forehead, pulled out her phone, and scanned Liao Shiyu's QR code.

They strolled around for a while longer. Midway through, Liao Shiyu kept checking her phone, occasionally typing some words. After a while, her phone suddenly rang.

Liao Shiyu glanced at the phone and said to Qian Fei, "Sorry, Qian Fei, please wait for me in the café ahead first. I need to step away to take a call."

Qian Fei said alright, walked to the nearby Starbucks, ordered a cup of coffee, and sat down to wait.

Getting bored while waiting, she opened WeChat and began to scroll through her Moments.

She saw that under the post Liao Shiyu had made with the image and caption, there was a comment left by Liao Shiyu herself.

She didn't know who Liao Shiyu was replying to, but the content read: "What's the rush? I don't eat people, haha."

After glancing at it, she didn't pay much more attention and continued to scroll down the screen. Then she saw that incredibly shameless person, who had relentlessly insisted on changing his own remark name back to "Interstellar Hunk," had also posted a Moments update: "Jinjin, I'm hungry!"

Qian Fei nearly spat out a mouthful of coffee.

She replied: "Go practice the Sunflower Manual; once you finish practicing, you won't feel hungry anymore."

Just after she replied, Liao Shiyu returned.

She looked as though she had just had an argument with someone, appearing a bit tired. "Qian Fei, let's go back."

Thus, they stood up and walked toward home.

On the way home, Qian Fei bought some groceries. After arriving back at the apartment, she went into the kitchen to wash the vegetables and cook. Her phone was left on the living room table.

While Qian Fei was in the kitchen using chopped green onions to flavor the hot oil in the wok, her phone rang. She ran out to check it.

It was Wang Ruohai.

She connected the call and told Wang Ruohai, "Wang Ruohai, wait for me a second. I have oil heating in the kitchen; if I wait any longer, it's going to catch fire!" She set the phone on the table and turned to run back to the kitchen.

Liao Shiyu, who was sitting on the sofa watching television, stood up silently. She walked over to the table, picked up the phone, and said softly, "Wang Ruohai, we already agreed on everything just now. If you tell Qian Fei what kind of relationship you and I had before, I will show her all of our previous text messages, photos, and videos. Didn't you say that you betrayed her once, hurt her, and don't want her to suffer a second hurt?"

Wang Ruohai's voice over the receiver was filled with entreaty and helplessness, "Liao Shiyu, is there any point in you doing this?"

Liao Shiyu laughed softly. "There is point, a great deal of point. You've forgotten too many things; I need to help you remember."

Wang Ruohai said, "If you have an issue, direct it at me. Can we please not involve her in the matters between the two of us?"

Liao Shiyu's voice was so soft it was almost imperceptible, "You're really stupid. How can you not understand? The more you protect her, the less reconciled I am." With that, she hung up the phone, sat back down on the sofa, and continued to watch television as if nothing had happened.

When Qian Fei came out of the kitchen again, she discovered that the call had already been disconnected.

She dialed back to Wang Ruohai and asked him what was the matter.

Wang Ruohai hesitated for a moment and said, "It's nothing really. I just wanted to ask how you've been doing lately."

●︶3︶●

Li Yifei had been observing Wang Ruohai from the shadows.

He discovered that although this cheating man had issues with his character, his working competence was still good.

Looking at this person, no matter how he looked, he felt annoyed.

He could actually find an excuse to fire him, but on second thought, doing so would make himself look very low. His personal standard did not allow him to perform such an act of abusing power for personal ends, which would damage his class.

Sometimes he thought about what kind of method he should use to let this man know that the ex-boyfriend-discarded ex-girlfriend had found a second spring, and moreover, the quality and presentation of this second spring was simply not something a minor mid-level manager like him could compare to. Whenever he imagined what kind of unreconciled and regretful expression would appear on Wang Ruohai's face upon learning that the successor of the group he worked for was precisely this second spring, he would always amuse himself to the point that his liver nearly ached with satisfaction.

But later on, he abandoned this plan.

He felt that the greatest punishment for this man was not to let him see that his ex-girlfriend had climbed onto a high branch that was countless times stronger than him, but rather to let him see how brilliantly, how dazzlingly, and how powerfully the person he had once given up on was now shining by relying on her own efforts.

Relying on others and borrowing someone else's light to shine was far inferior to being able to emit light oneself. He knew that before long, there would be just such an opportunity. Previously, he had been continuously maneuvering and contending against the old man precisely to bring about this opportunity.

Not only did he want to prove to the old man that the woman he chose was one in ten thousand, but he also wanted to make the once-blind Wang Ruohai worship and repent before his woman amidst tears and running nose: he had been blind, and he deserved to lose happiness by a slip of his hand.

Thinking of Wang Ruohai, he naturally thought of the woman who had caused him to cheat. Thus, during a leisure moment while working overtime, he couldn't resist gossiping a bit with Vice President Uncle Liao.

He had originally just finished some work and, starved for conversation, casually caught a random person to ask, not thinking that a dignified vice president would know about the private life gossip and secret rumors of a mid-level manager underneath him.

Yet Uncle Liao unexpectedly faced him with a countenance full of shame, sighing and groaning as he rubbed his hands and pinched his forehead, saying, "I told Old Li not to play matchmaker for you and Shiyu. Sooner or later you'd find out about that business between her and Wang Ruohai, but your dad just refused to listen to me!"

Li Yifei was shocked to his core.

Incredibly, the woman Wang Ruohai had cheated with was Liao Shiyu.

And at this very moment, Liao Shiyu was living in the apartment belonging to him and Qian Fei.

He could no longer sit still, grabbing his coat and getting up to leave.

An unsuppressible irritation surged up within his heart.

In the future, he would have to tell Qian Fei exactly why he would never like this beautiful childhood female friend under any circumstances.

Because he truly detested women who were adept at playing mind games without caring whether they would hurt others.
