Love Has Fireworks - Chapter 59

Chapter 59: Angrily Forcing a Presence

In the afternoon, Qian Fei arrived at Li Yifei's company carrying the documents, and the receptionist led her into the meeting room. After a short while, someone walked in. Qian Fei turned her head to look, and it was Li Yifei.

Li Yifei sat down directly across from her, staring straight at her, and asked, "Did you bring the documents?"

Qian Fei handed the folder over to him.

Li Yifei lowered his head to flip through the folder. After flipping for a moment, without raising his head, he suddenly asked, "Still angry?" Then he looked up, watching Qian Fei as he arched an eyebrow and said, "Your temper is even bigger than mine!"

Another person pushed open the meeting room door and walked in; it was Zhao De.

Qian Fei looked at Li Yifei and said with absolute seriousness, "Director Li, it is working hours right now. Let's keep business strictly as business."

Zhao De sat down with a completely dazed expression. He looked at Li Yifei, then at Qian Fei, and muttered contextlessly, "What's the situation? Feifei, relax. Although Yifei passed the sponsor representative exam, got promoted, and became the head of the third department, the friendship we built playing Fight the Landlord together won't change. You don't need to be this formal!"

He emotionally muttered a whole bunch, yet absolutely no one paid any attention to him...

With a dark face, Li Yifei narrowed his eyes and stared at Qian Fei, then lowered his head again to flip through the documents. "What you brought are all photocopies. Where are the originals?"

Qian Fei said, "The originals are at our company. If the materials are to be reported to the Regulatory Bureau tomorrow morning, I will bring them directly there."

Li Yifei closed the folder, raised his head, and said, "I need you to bring the originals here right now."

Qian Fei looked at him without blinking. "Is there any necessity for that? The contents of the originals and the photocopies are identical."

Li Yifei said, "I am certain that I need the originals right now."

Qian Fei glared at him, remaining silent.

Blinded by the abnormal aura flashing between the two of them, Zhao De was a bit unable to keep up with the situation. "What is wrong with you two? Why does it feel like you're intentionally finding fault with each other?"

Li Yifei and Qian Fei glared at him at the exact same time.

Qian Fei took a deep breath and stood up. "Fine, Director Li. I will return to the company right now to fetch the originals. In addition, Director Li, what other documents do you require? Please tell me all at once. I do not want to arrive here only for you to discover you need other documents again."

Li Yifei lightly tapped his fingers on the desktop. "Bring the originals over first, then we'll talk."

Qian Fei took a deep breath, pulled back her chair, turned around, and walked out of the meeting room.

After watching her walk far away through the glass wall, Li Yifei irritably supported his forehead, knit his brows, closed his eyes, and let out a muffled sigh.

He was truly becoming beyond saving. If today's matter had happened with any of his previous girls, he would have felt it was satisfying and a good way to vent his anger. But now that it was happening with Qian Fei, why did he feel this vexed and frustrated?

From the side, Zhao De nudged him. "I say, Director Li, did you take the wrong medicine? Why are you deliberately making things difficult for our Feifei?"

Li Yifei looked up. "You think I am deliberately making things difficult for her?"

Zhao De nodded. "Putting on a stern face and tossing her back to fetch the originals and whatnot—if that isn't called deliberately making things difficult, what is?"

Li Yifei spread his hands. "Don't you think that for the originals to be taken to the Regulatory Bureau tomorrow, they ought to be brought to our company this afternoon to be stamped with a page-spanning seal?"

Zhao De was startled. Putting it that way, it truly was an oversight in Qian Fei's work.

"But couldn't you change your manner and speak nicely?" Zhao De said weakly.

Li Yifei glared at him. "She told me to keep business strictly as business, didn't you hear?"

Zhao De glared back at him. "Well, she also told you to go die plenty of times, so how come you haven't gone and died!"

Qian Fei was burning with rage the entire way back. In her heart, she cursed Li Yifei over and over again, paying respects all the way from his uncle to his ancestral grave.

When she returned to the company, she huffily hunted out the original documents. Just before leaving the company, she saw other colleagues processing seals.

She instantly slapped her forehead.

She had truly been careless. Her mind had been completely scattered these past two days, and she had actually forgotten all about stamping the page-spanning seal on the documents.

Thinking about it this way, she began to feel that the words she used to curse Li Yifei on the road were a bit too harsh. She ought to take fifty percent off, leaving a bit of moral restraint by only paying respects to his uncle while sparing his ancestral grave.

She found Xiao Yuan to handle the seal processing, and after stamping her own company's page-spanning seal, she rushed back to Li Yifei's company.

Li Yifei and she sat in the meeting room staring at each other with wide eyes while Zhao De took the documents out to handle their company's seal processing.

Li Yifei crossed his arms and spoke first: "Do you feel extremely wronged?"

Qian Fei said as calmly as possible, "At first I did, but it was indeed my oversight."

Li Yifei fell silent for a moment, then said, "What I was talking about wasn't today's document matter."

Qian Fei knit her brows. "Director Li, it seems we previously discussed the issue of keeping business strictly as business during working hours."

Li Yifei lifted his wrist to look at his watch and said, "Five ten. It's already past working hours." He lowered his hand, intertwining his fingers as he gently tapped and tapped on the table. "It's been such a long time, you should have cooled down your anger by now!"

Qian Fei packed up her things and stood up. "Since it's past working hours, then I will leave. Just let Zhao De take the documents to the Regulatory Bureau tomorrow."

Having finished speaking, she turned around and walked out of the meeting room.

She heard the sound of footsteps ringing behind her. Li Yifei had actually followed her out.

He followed her all the way to the elevator doors.

Qian Fei ignored him.

The elevator arrived, and Qian Fei stepped inside.

Li Yifei followed her inside as well.

The two of them stood side by side. Staring straight ahead, Li Yifei said in a deep voice, "Can we stop making a scene? If this scene keeps going, it will hurt our feelings."

Qian Fei also stared straight ahead, remaining completely silent.

Not until they stepped out of the elevator and exited the building, waiting until there was no one else around them, did Qian Fei stop. She turned around, raised her head, looked at Li Yifei, and said word by word, "Li Yifei, how can you still not understand? Do you think when I told you 'let's be friends,' I was joking with you? Or do you think I am throwing a tantrum with you or playing hard to get? Can you stop being this self-opinionated? Can you seriously respect another person's thoughts from their perspective?" She paused, catching her breath, her voice filled with helplessness. "Li Yifei, let me say it solemnly one more time: I am not making a scene. What I told you is the truth—the two of us are not a good match."

Having finished speaking, she turned her head and walked away, leaving Li Yifei standing frozen in place with a completely dazed expression.

She was actually really playing for keeps with him!

●︶3︶●

Li Yifei was becoming a bit scared.

According to his understanding of Qian Fei, she was a person with an incredibly good temper and an incredibly soft heart. She was most afraid of holding grudges against others, always sentimentally guessing other people's tempers and dispositions when speaking and doing things, exerting her utmost effort to ensure the words she spoke wouldn't make people feel displeased or uncomfortable. With her nice-to-a-fault temper, he had never imagined under any circumstances that she would truly harden her heart and go entirely rigid against him to the bitter end.

Had he truly pushed a rabbit until it was desperate enough to bite?

He began to reflect on himself. Was he too confident beforehand? He felt that although Qian Fei hadn't explicitly clarified their relationship, she absolutely and definitely held a place for him in her heart, so he had given free rein to his temper and emotions just like in the past.

Based on their past interactions, the moment he became unhappy, she would eagerly come running, laughing along, telling jokes, and making delicious food. She had indulged his temper to such an extent that he had genuinely never even considered that one day she would look at him with a face full of absolute determination and say: Li Yifei, I am serious, the two of us are not a good match.

He had previously heard a female childhood friend say a phrase: a woman's tolerance toward a man is inversely proportional to her degree of love. The more she loves, the less she can tolerate a single grain of sand in her eyes. When you aren't her boyfriend, you can cheat, you can talk nonsense, and you can play around with women, and she can still leisurely stand aside and watch the fun with a smile. But once you become her boyfriend, if you do these things again and she can still leisurely stand aside and watch with a smile, it proves she doesn't love you at all. Otherwise, she would either snip you with a pair of scissors and take care of you for the rest of your life, or cut ties clean through with you and have nothing to do with each other from then on.

He had previously thought nothing of these words, but thinking about them now, he felt they were practically describing him and Qian Fei.

In the past, he possessed absolute zero tolerance toward girls. Anyone who threw a tantrum or threw a fit would be sent packing to stay out of the way; they could go cool off wherever they liked, as he absolutely wouldn't indulge their bad habits. While the other party was feeling heartbroken to the point of tearing apart, his own health bar remained completely full.

But falling out with Qian Fei this time, he had lost quite a bit of his vital energy.

He used a span of three days to calm down on one hand and wait on the other—waiting for Qian Fei to experience a flare-up of her holy mother disease just like before, coming to find him like an old goody-goody to have a nice chat. He had even thought it through; he wouldn't put on too many airs, and as long as there was a meal of stir-fried eggplant strips, he could restore their good relations.

Yet three days passed, and Qian Fei unexpectedly made no movement whatsoever.

For the first time, he experienced that once this holy mother experienced a flare-up, her temper was actually quite massive.

As the three days ran their course, he went from irritability on the first day, to anxiety on the second day, to distraction on the third day, and finally to being unable to hold out on the fourth day. He at last discovered with sorrow that in this lifetime, he might end up falling entirely into this woman's hands.

The thought that "I cannot indulge her bad habits" was finally unable to defeat his yearning for her by the fourth day.

On the fourth day, in order to prevent his dignity from being completely lost, he used the occasion of needing her to bring the documents to the company to send her a text message, asking her: "Still haven't cooled down your anger?"

These six words were nothing to anyone else, but to him, they could practically be established as a milestone in his life—he had never lowered his head to a woman like this before.

As a result, right when he was unwillingly lamenting that he was already about to step into a completely unprincipled degeneration, Qian Fei actually told him that she wasn't throwing a tantrum—she was truly being serious.

He found it difficult to accept such an outcome. To him, whether psychologically or in terms of face, this was a bloody stab right to his core.

After the initial resentment of having his self-esteem wounded, he began to try visualizing what it would be like if he were to be a man of backbone and mettle, following exactly what Qian Fei said from now on—if they were only friends from then on, what would happen to him?

As he thought and thought, he suddenly felt a bit of suffocating pain in his chest.

He thought that he absolutely could not just let her have her way and forget about it. He couldn't be the only one suffering from angina.

●︶3︶●

Everyone at Li Yifei's company felt that lately, the quite beautiful girl from the partner company was appearing with a bit too high a frequency.

The receptionist gossiped to the people of a certain project department, saying, "Just look at that girl in the meeting room right now. She's come almost every single day recently, and every day she says she's come to deliver documents to Director Li. Tell me, do you think she's fallen for our Director Li?"

Female Employee One of that project department said, "I think it's an eighty percent certainty! Our Director Li is young and promising, not to mention he's a sponsor representative. I heard he even opened his own company outside, and he's overwhelmingly handsome. If it weren't for the fact that I have self-knowledge, I would like him too!"

Female Employee Two of that project department said, "Even if she likes him, she should show a bit of restraint. Isn't this displaying it a bit too obviously?"

Male Employee One of that project department said, "Are you jealous that she's prettier than you and has a better figure?"

Female Employee Two asked back, "What's it to you? Have you fallen for her? If you've fallen for her, don't hold back. If you have the capability, go right after her!"

Male Employee One of the project department said, "Don't say it, I really am a bit interested! As soon as she comes out of the meeting room later, I'll ask her for a business card!"

Prostrating himself on the desk, Zhao De yelled listlessly toward the group of bored individuals, "Alright, all of you disperse! What kind of eyesight do you all have! It's clearly our Director Li using every method he can think of to torment an innocent young lady, can't you all tell!"

●︶3︶●

Qian Fei felt that she was about to go crazy.

Ever since that day when she stepped out of the elevator and spoke clearly with Li Yifei, she felt that Li Yifei had begun to use public office for private gain to carry out crackdowns and retaliation against her.

Every single day he could find a pretext. If it wasn't a missing document, it was a lacking certificate. He always had a way to make her supervisor point at her forehead and call out her name, forcing her to deliver materials to the partner company trip after trip.

Every time she delivered the materials, it wasn't even considered over. Li Yifei also required her to sit in the meeting room and match the documents with her page by page, refusing to let her return until he was certain that there wasn't even an issue with full-width or half-width punctuation marks.

This kind of life persisted for three days. During those three days, Qian Fei discovered that the gaze of all the female employees at their company looked stranger and stranger whenever they looked at her. Finally, when she was using the restroom—just like the melodramatic plots in television dramas—as she squatted in one of the stalls, she heard the female comrades in two other stalls chatting, and only then did she see through what kind of mysterious secret was hidden inside those strange glances.

It turned out they were discussing that she had fallen for Li Yifei.

The discussion was also mixed with comments about her from other male colleagues.

Finally, it concluded with: "Do you think what Zhao De said is true, that our Director Li is deliberately trying to torment that woman?"

Then Qian Fei heard the two people wash their hands and exit the restroom.

She knocked on her numbed legs and stood up, grinding her teeth as she made a resolute decision: tomorrow, if her supervisor made her deliver documents again, she would let out a loud cry of "Oh no, my low blood sugar is acting up," then close both eyes and faint dead onto the ground. Her supervisor could do whatever he liked; in any case, that was exactly what she was going to do!

●︶3︶●

Ever since that day when they stepped out of the elevator and Qian Fei said she was indeed being serious, Li Yifei was no longer able to contact Qian Fei at all.

He sent messages to her, and she didn't reply.

He made phone calls to her, and she didn't pick up.

He went to her home at Capital International to find her, and she didn't open the door.

He broke the pots and sank the boats, deciding to find the key himself to break through the door and enter. Thus, he squatted on the ground, flipping over the doormat to look for the spare key. In the end, he didn't find the key, but there was a slip of paper with writing that read: Changed locations, goodbye.

Li Yifei was enraged. He didn't believe he couldn't force a presence.

He thought back and forth, and finally thought of a method—finding pretexts to make Qian Fei come deliver documents.

He communicated directly with her supervisor, and her supervisor then applied pressure on her, requiring her to "cooperate well with Director Li of the partner company for a period of time recently."

Every day, he waited for her to arrive with secret delight in his heart, and every day, as long as she arrived, he would hold her back and refuse to let go, finding fault like a pedant as he scrutinized even the punctuation marks meticulously. Several times he saw her driven by him to the point where she was practically about to stomp her feet, yet every single time she endured it at the final moment.

Every single time he saw her like this, he felt a bit of a sense of loss.

Back when they could have a fight, he blamed her for being high-maintenance; now, it was just great—she wouldn't even fight with him anymore.

Zhao De told him that the female employees in the company had started spreading nonsense, saying she was running to the company trip after trip because she had fallen for him.

He asked Zhao De, "Then you just listened to it empty-handed like that? You didn't help say anything for her?"

Zhao De said, "I spoke up! I said it isn't that Feifei has fallen for you, it's that you look down on her, so you're deliberately finding fault to fix her!"

He practically wanted to kneel down before this pig-head Zhao De.

He asked slightly violently, "What are you pulling all this useless nonsense for? Couldn't you just tell them directly that I am the one who has fallen for her?"

After being startled for a moment, Zhao De stared with wide eyes and cried out, "Ah? No way? You've fallen for Little Feifei too?"

Li Yifei was truly violent this time: "Who else has fallen for her? Is it you?"

Zhao De cupped his face and shook his head. "My move was too late! It's someone from project department two; he asked Little Feifei for a business card yesterday!"

Grizzling his teeth as he looked at Zhao De, Li Yifei made a painful decision in his heart.

Starting from tomorrow, he had to change his method of forcing a presence.

He could no longer let her come to their company; it was his turn to go to her company!
